Cesar Lagleva

President Emeritus

Mr. Lagleva is an honored and distinguished member of the AHO board. He brings a strong commitment to serving others and promoting social justice in Marin and throughout the world.  In 2008, he received the prestigious Social Justice Award from the Marin Community Foundation. Emigrating from the Philippines at age 10, he grew up in the Canal area of Marin County and experienced the many economic, educational and social challenges that are still confronting this community today.  He received his BA and Masters of Social Work (MSW) from San Francisco State. Since 1999, he has been a clinical social worker for Marin Health and Human Services (MHHS).  His specialty is working with youth in the juvenile justice system and their families.  He has also served as Employment Development Counselor to assist economically disadvantaged adults for MHHS and worked as a tenant organizer in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District for the Chinese Community Housing Corporation. He is the former chair of the Marin County Human Rights Commission and teaches weekly parenting classes at the Marin County Jail for incarcerated men through Centerforce. Currently he is chairing the Race and Class initiative to confront and eliminate the “achievement gaps” in Marin, bringing the community together to create sustainable solutions.  He is a former board member of the Social Justice Center of Marin and the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership  in San Rafael.  He is the foster parent of 14 foster children.
